NHF for Dutch heritage overseas

Mission

Nederlands

The NHF is committed to building connections with which the Netherlands shares a common past. Shared heritage forms our basis for asking new questions and building bridges. From Amsterdam, we research and unlock the Dutch history of the 17th and 18th centuries abroad. With the philosophy of connection and co-creation, we train young researchers and guide them through the heritage world. It is a journey that offers insight, imagination, and connection.

Why NHF?

The NHF specializes in Dutch heritage overseas. Projects, established in collaboration with embassies, local heritage experts, and institutions in Brazil, the United States, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Taiwan, have contributed to mapping Dutch heritage in those locations. This method of co-creation leads to widely supported research that fosters a better understanding of this significant and challenging period of our shared history.

As the NHF is a small and independent organization, it responds quickly to current events and changes. The NHF works on a project basis and receives funding from embassies, companies, funds, institutions, and individuals. The foundation is registered as an ANBI foundation, which allows donations and contributions to be partially tax-deductible.
