Maquette Nieuw-Amsterdam

Nederlands

Four hundred years ago, in 1624, “New Amsterdam”—now known as New York—was founded in the colony of “New Netherland.” Starting June 17, 2024, a temporary exhibition on the origins of New Amsterdam will be on display at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam, organized by the New Holland Foundation. At the heart of the exhibition is a scale model of a section of New Amsterdam, depicting the town as it appeared in the mid-17th century. In a later phase, the model will also be exhibited in New York.
